Like the flying turtle hovering over the skeleton, the juxtaposition of the German cabinet and laser part is an example of the bizarre combination of objects found in a curiosity cabinet. The two objects may seem an unlikely pair, but the cabinet and the laser both function to "cut" and separate objects from a larger context.
