Presentation is entitled: "From Metaphor To Metadata."

K&S began their life long collaboration in Paris in 1975 -- that same year they began developing a series of projects under a heading they called "Aesthetic Research in Telecommunications". A five year plan was developed and designed to explore the potentials, limitations, and implications of an emerging world networked by multimedia devices. Their bias was towards realtime, human-to-human, "multiple media," telecollaborative environments -- participants, artists, and others who lived and practiced in locations all over the globe could be electronically immersed in a visual, shared-screen, multicultural multimedia universe, facilitated by the convergence and kludging together of various technologies -- analog, digital, hybrids, whatever. Back then K&S referred to their objective as the creation of a "Performance Space With No Geographical Boundaries (1976).
