SECTION III: INFORMATION PERSONAE CONSTRUCTION

Chapter 8 - Construction of the Information Personae
8.20 Moving into Hyperbolic Space
8.20.1 Navigating the net using the existing hypertext browsers limits the view and makes it difficult for people to establish a mental model of a highly intricate and interconnected world. This world is made by people carrying and sharing information, but all we see is static 2D documents that are mostly disconnected from those who carry this knowledge and do not show the connections between people and information. Moving to 3-dimensional space allows us to see both multiple documents and the links between them. Using some of the mathematical and biological principles that Fuller spent his life developing naturally lends itself to this type of space. Recently our research group was joined by Dr. Xianze Dai, a mathematician from UCSB who is interested in developing algorithms for moving the Information Personae into 3D hyperbolic space. [16]
